Exposition Text

Definition:
Exposition text is a type of text that aims to persuade the reader by presenting arguments and opinions about a certain topic. It explains why something should be accepted or rejected.

Purpose:

To convince the reader about the writer’s point of view.

Generic Structure:

  1. Thesis – Introduction of the topic and writer's opinion.

  2. Arguments – Reasons and evidence to support the opinion.

  3. Conclusion – Restatement of the writer’s opinion.

Language Features:

  • Use of simple present tense

  • Use of connective words (e.g., firstly, however, therefore)

  • Use of opinion words (e.g., I believe, in my opinion)

  • Use of modal verbs (e.g., should, must)

Why Reading Books is Better than Watching Movies
